A very Wiki Introduction
Overview
A wiki is a community portal, which contains useful information which anyone can contribute to.
A wiki is a page or collection of Web pages designed to enable anyone (excluding blocked or banned users) who accesses it to contribute or modify content, using a simplified markup language. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. The collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia is one of the best-known wikis.Wikis are used in business to provide intranets and Knowledge Management systems. Ward Cunningham, developer of the first wiki software, WikiWikiWeb, originally described it as "the simplest online database that could possibly work". Wikipedia
Why for us?
As the roos has a large number of members, it would seem a good idea to utilize the vast knowledge base provided by its members. With the hope of drawing on this knowledge, we can extend this wiki to be a useful port of call to anyone after some WoW related information. While there are other wiki's around relating to WoW, we can be hopeful in this one to provide one with content specific to our members, and one with a friendly touch.
How?
There are a few ways of editing and adding to the wiki.
One) Editing an existing page. First load up any page on the wiki, and then at the top of the screen click on the edit tab. a text box will load up with some WikiFormating in it.
Two) Search for a page, if it does not exist, click on the red link, and then the page will open up with the edit window already loaded.
From there, just type in your content with some wiki formatting and your going strong!
